Is your little one at school and learning phonics? Is the class whizzing ahead whilst your youngster is struggling to keep up? Or maybe they are older and just never ‘got’ phonics and now need extra support? Would you like to be able to help them, but don’t know how? Look no further, I can help you.
Hi, my name is Stephanie and I have worked in schools for many years with youngsters who have specific learning difficulties. My favourite thing is teaching reading and spelling. I now tutor from home and would love to help you and your little one. Come for lessons together and learn phonics using lots of hands on activities and games. I promise you it will be lots of fun!
All lessons are personalised to engage your little one. Do they like drawing, are they very active, maybe they have a particular interest or hobby? Many of the activities and games are made by me especially for the lesson. You will attend all sessions and learn alongside your child so that you will be able to reinforce what they have learned at home.
Tricky words are sight words because they cannot be sounded out using phonics. We will learn tricky words using lots of fun activities. One of my favourites is this High Five activity. Give the monster a high five and say the tricky word.
Board games are great for reinforcing a sound and its spelling(s). Your little one will be having so much fun playing the game they will forget that they are learning to read and spell too!
Board games also provide opportunities for learning not only how to spell sounds, but also skills such as turn taking, working out a strategy to create winning opportunities or learning how to lose with grace.
Weekly homework will be provided for your little one to practise what they have learned in each lesson. This will include worksheets, activities and games appropriate to their needs.
In November what could be more fun than practising tricky words with a 'sparkler' made by you? Turn off the lights and air write the tricky word in the dark.
Little ones love games, and especially winning! Mollie wrote me a delightful thank you note in which she reminded me of her game tally chart and that she had won more games than me. What she didn't realise was that she had also improved her reading and spelling!
We had such a great year with you and BOTH learnt so much. It was such a privilege to learn from you and to spend time watching how Issy learns!
Henry loves his extra lessons and seems to have more confidence with reading.
He has really enjoyed his lessons with you and we are delighted with the fantastic progress he has made.
Thank you for all you are doing for Findlay - he is loving it and gaining confidence all the time.
I will always remember all the things you have done for me. You have brought out the potential in me.
Thank you, you've helped me through tough times and made me confident, I'm going to miss my lessons!

Most youngsters will complete the course of synthetic phonics tuition within a year. At that point a review will be carried out and a joint decision made as to whether or not continuing lessons would be beneficial.
Lessons last for 90 minutes including mini breaks. Each lesson costs £75.
Your youngster will learn how to read and spell using synthetic phonics. Lessons will be engaging and fun with lots of activities and games, many of them made by me.
You, or possibly a grandparent or other chosen adult, will attend all lessons alongside your little one. You will learn together so you will be able to support your youngster between lessons.
I would love to hear about your youngster and the help that you are looking for. Please give me a call!
